First Baptist Church

Founded in 1796, First Baptist is an American Baptist church with an ecumenical congregation. First is the "Mother Church" of Colgate University.

Worship Services and Weekly Activities

Fall/Winter/Spring schedule:

• SUNDAY MORNINGS: 8:45 choir rehearsal; 9:30 Sunday School; 10:30 worship, with coffee hour following.
• Mondays, AA (closed meeting) and Fridays, AA (open meeting) at 8 p.m.
• Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 - 10:00 a.m., Yoga Fellowship Group.
• Wednesdays, Morning Prayer in sanctuary from 7:20 to 8:20, a gathering for prayer and reflection.
• Thursdays, 9 - 11 a.m. and 7 - 9 p.m., Women's Community Bible Study. Nursery available in the morning session.
• Alternate Saturdays, 10 - noon, Ellen's quilting class. If interested, please call Ellen Mordus evenings at 824-1995. Alternate Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., CWF Basketmakers' Workshop. For info., call the church office - 824-2780.
• CHURCH BOARDS:
  • Deacons: First Wednesday of each month 7:00 p.m.
  • Trustees: Second Tuesday of each month 5:00 p.m.
  • Missions: Second Tuesday of each month 7:00 p.m.

Summer Schedule

Worship at 10:00 a.m.
First Baptist Church has summer union services with Park United Methodist Church. July services in one chuch, August services in the other. Schedule for summer 2008 TBA.
